So yes, some jobs will change, some roles will shrink, and some jobs may disappear.

They will understand:

LinkedIn data reported in 2026, for example, shows strong hiring growth in AI-related roles, particularly among younger workers.

The market is changing.

That doesn't mean everyone automatically benefits.

People who continue learning and adapting will generally have more options than those who treat AI as something that can simply be ignored.


The New Digital Divide: Knowing AI vs Knowing How to Use AI

There's another mistake to avoid.

You don't need to become an AI researcher just because AI is popular.

Instead, ask:

"How can AI make me better at what I already do?"

A developer can learn AI-assisted development.

A designer can learn AI-assisted creative workflows.

A marketer can use AI for research and content analysis.

A business analyst can use AI for data interpretation.

An entrepreneur can use AI to automate repetitive business processes.

The goal isn't to replace your existing skill.

The goal is to multiply it.


The Future Isn't Human or AI. It's Human + AI.

In the coming years, simply having access to AI tools won't be a competitive advantage.

Almost everyone will have access.

The advantage will come from knowing:

What to ask AI
When to use it
When not to use it
How to verify its output
How to integrate it into workflows
How to identify its limitations
How to combine AI with human judgment

Just like owning a smartphone doesn't make someone good at technology, having ChatGPT or another AI tool doesn't automatically make someone productive.

The skill is knowing what to do with it.

The IT industry is entering a new phase.

AI will undoubtedly automate parts of software development and other technology work. Companies are already changing how they measure productivity and structure teams around AI-enabled workflows.

But the strongest professionals won't necessarily be those who compete against AI.

They will be the ones who learn to work with it.

The calculator didn't destroy mathematics.

The smartphone didn't destroy knowledge.

The internet didn't destroy communication.

They changed how humans use their abilities.

AI is likely to do the same—only at a much greater scale.


So, will AI destroy IT jobs?

Some tasks will disappear. Some roles will change. Some jobs will be reduced. New opportunities will also emerge.

The bigger question isn't whether AI will change the IT industry.

It already is.

The real question is whether you will change with it.

Because in the next generation of technology, knowing how to code, design, test, market, or analyze may not be enough.

You will need to know how to combine your expertise with intelligent tools.

AI isn't necessarily the end of your career.

Not knowing how to use it may be the bigger risk..
